BWS Monthly Meeting

After a short business meeting, BWS member Dan Alexander will share his expertise in caricatures and sketching. Suggested supplies are
- brushes (#2 round for sure)
- 1 small palette
- india ink or brown walnut ink (sepia or black W/C paint works too)
- Crow quill pen (optional)
- Chip board brown/gray 9X12 at least (cheap scraps at Pygmalions)
- #2 pencil
- 9X12 graphite transfer paper
-1 piece of white chalk, conte
- 9X12 photo reference, scan, print out (bw or color) portrait or floral works best; (no valuable photos)

Nancy Davis Metz, president, called the meeting to order at 6:23 p.m. at First Christian Church.

A. Minutes from January 12, 2009. Seeing no additions or corrections, a motion was made by Jeanne Dutton to approve the minutes. After a second by Meri Reinhold, the motion was passed.

B. Treasurer’s Report - Carol Rhodes reported that the current balance is $1,265.35, including petty cash.

C. Committee and Board Reports
1. Jeanne Dutton has written a “State of the Society” report which will be posted on the blog.

There were no other committee reports.

D. Old Business
1. Shelly Ritter read a list of outreach opportunities available to members including:
Redbud Hills – in need of people to teach classes
Boys and Girls Club
Girl Scouts – help girls work on badges
Parks & Camps - Recreation
T. C. Steele – people to teach art classes. Also have “Artists in Residency” opportunities
Waldron – offers a wide variety of classes
Joe LaMantia – has a program working with blind students
Vista Print – website with 250 cards free
Contact names for these various offerings will be posted on the BWS blogspot.

E. New Business
Jacki Frey gave an update on the upcoming Saturday, April 4 one-day workshop by Bill Borden.
Hours will be 9:30 – 4:00 at First Christian Church.
Space is limited to 20.
Registration can be made through Pay Pal or by credit card. Once you sign up, you get a URL and then pay by credit card. Cost - $50 for members, $60 non-members. Fee must be paid by March 9.
Members were encouraged to sign-up at tonight’s meeting. Checks were accepted.

March 9 Program – Dan Alexander instructing with ink. A list of supplies will be listed on the BWS blog.

F. Adjournment – Motion to adjourn was made by Jeanne Dutton and seconded by Nina Ost. Meeting closed at 7:10.
