Charlotte Griffin provided a copy of email from the newest member which contained one of his paintings. Kriste asked members to greet our guests, Teresa, Pat and Cindy who are members of Jeanne Dutton’s class at Ivy Tech.

Kriste thanked Evelyn Alwine as hospitality chair for arranging for the exquisite refreshments provided by Jody Estell and Steven Jackson.

The minutes of the last meeting (February 14, 2011) were available on the Blog and no additions or corrections were found from the members in attendance. Carol Rhodes moved for acceptance of the minutes and Meri Reinhold seconded. The members accepted the minutes unanimously as written.

The Treasurer, Carol Rhodes, provided the Treasurer's Report for February.

Kriste passed around copies of the “fridge friendly flyer” to all attending. The flyer contains the schedule of BWS important dates as known - programs, paint-outs, workshops, etc. It will be revised as any new information becomes available.

Committee Reports
Paint Outs
- Kriste reminded the members that the first paint-out is approaching in April (at McCormick Creek State Park); information about where to meet within the park will be provided via the blog at a time closer to date of April 30. The list of all paint outs can also be found in the February issue of Brushstrokes on the BWS Blog.
Activities/Workshop Chair, Deloris Schneider pointed out that there was a poster at the back of the room providing information about the Peggy Brown Workshop to be held on May 28 from 9 to 4. The cost for members is $55 and the number of seats it limited to 20. If the seats are not filled by members, enrollment will be opened to non-members at $65.

Old Business:
Joanne Swank invited members of BWS to attend the March 29 meeting of the Visual Arts Guild to be held at Pictura Gallery at 7:00 p.m. The meeting is titled “A Dialogue with Gallery Directors” and will give artists information about how to get their work shown at local galleries. She also solicited any other program ideas that the Visual Arts Guild might provide that would be of interest to local artists.

New Business:
Kriste encouraged members to look at the new BWS web site and thanked Carol Rhodes for all of her effort in creating it.

Announcements:
Zoe Dean pointed to the framed watercolor at the back of the room by Ken Bucklew and invited anyone interested in having it to buy a raffle ticket. Ken Bucklew is an artist who paints despite a disability and he contributes one of his paintings to the Owen County Delta Theta Tau Sorority (which is a tax exempt charitable organization in Spencer County) each year to be raffled.

Dan Alexander mentioned that he has a solo show at the Glorious Moments Fine Art Gallery at which he will be showing his Native American works.

Vi Working provided the members with a number of magazines and some books that she was about to dispose of. She also provided a handout about drawing hands. Carol Rhodes provided some books and materials that were surplus in her studio. It was suggested from the floor that an exchange table would be a great way for members to share tips, books, supplies, etc. This will be considered by the board.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:02 p.m. and attention was transferred to the evening's program with a panel of teachers (Linda Meyer-Wright, Jeanne Iler, and Vi Working) who provided those members who brought paintings, with which they were having trouble, with suggestions on how to proceed with the problem painting.

Respectfully submitted,
Charlotte Griffin
