Committee Reports:

Paint Out Committee, Susan Blunck: The April Paint Out is Saturday, 10-2, at the Columbus Learning Center in conjunction with the Membership Show exhibit.

Activities and Workshops, Kriste Lindberg: The Sandy Maudlin workshop is Saturday, May 22. Kriste distributed a flyer about the workshop with instructions on how to register and pay. Members should register and pay before April 24. At that time, remaining spots will be opened to the public. People may register through May 8. Cancellation deadline, to receive a refund, is May 8. After that date, no refunds will be issued.
Lynn Diamante will present a workshop on August 14. Details will be provided at the June meeting.
Four members made a road trip to Twinrocker Paper Mill in Brookston, Indiana, last Saturday. Arrangements were made through the Road Trips Bulletin Board on BloomingtonWatercolor.org. Kriste offered to share a video about Twinrocker.

Shows, Tricia Wente: "Everybody, Show Up!" Saturday, April 17, is the long awaited reception for the 2010 Membership Show at the Columbus Learning Center. A plein air paint out will take place on site. A harpist from the IU Jacobs School of Music will provide entertainment. Tricia asked that everyone come, bring their friends and family, and enjoy the day.
BWS received very nice coverage of the event in “IntoArt,” thanks to efforts by Tricia.
She also reminded everyone to forward the digital invitation to their friends.

Jo thanked Tricia for her dedication in putting this show and reception together, remarking that it required a great deal of work. Grateful applause was offered by the members.

Signature Status Committee, Dan Alexander: Tonight is the deadline to indicate your intent to apply for Signature Status. Once the names are received, complete information will be provided to the applicants. May 10 is the date of the judging and the successful applicants will be announced at the June meeting.

Notecard Committee: Nancy Davis Metz distributed an information sheet regarding the process of producing the notecards. Vi Working asked if there was a color limitation for the submissions. Nancy answered no, that the cards will be produced in full color.

Old Business:
Connie Brorson asked for a preliminary count of artists who plan to participate in the June 12 paint out at Meadowood. Ten people indicated plans to attend. Connie also reminded the members that those who participate may display their work at an exhibit in August at Meadowood.

Sara Steffey McQueen invited members to the Tibetan Mongolian Cultural Center to participate in her mandala class. Time is 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, April 14 and 21.

With no other business at hand, Sara moved to adjourn the meeting with a second by Jeanne Iler.

Jo adjourned the business meeting, at which time this month’s presenter, Carol Rhodes, provided an in-depth study of color theory and watercolor characteristics. Each member was provided with a ceramic palette and six samples of watercolor paint. We then were able to experiment with mixing the various colors.

Carol made great effort to provide an excellent session and Jo thanked her, along with the members and visitors, recognizing her excellent presentation with a hearty round of applause.

Respectfully submitted by Jeanne Dutton for Charlotte Griffin, secretary.
