BRUSHSTROKES

May 2008

DATES and UPDATES
May Meeting
May 12, 2008 6:00 p.m.
First Christian Church
Please use the Washington Street entrance.

May's program: Linda Meyer-Wright, local watercolor artist and BWS member, will present an interactive demonstration on "Waxing your Watercolors: Preserving Paintings without Glass."

There are only a couple things you need to bring:
1) A small watercolor painting which is mounted on a firm, stiff surface - You can have it dry mounted at Framemakers, or use acrylic matte medium to adhere it to foamcore or alligator or matte board; and
2) White lint-free rags or foam brushes.

JUNE MEETING: We'll be back at the library! Tricia Wente will put the finishing touches on the July membership show details, so those who wish to participate should plan to attend.

Jacki Frey, workshop coordinator, will review the Rod Crossman workshop, which was excellent! Thanks, Jacki, for all your work putting that together!
Artists who attended - please bring your painting from the workshop (finished or unfinished) for a show and share session at the June 9 meeting. We'd like to hear about your experience and what you learned.

Now, a couple business items:
DUES REMINDER! Annual Dues of $25.00 ($10.00 for students) are due in June. Checks should be made payable to the Bloomington Watercolor Society and may be delivered at the May or June meeting. Dues may also be mailed to BWS, PO Box 5236, Bloomington, Indiana 47407-5236. Please note that members who have joined since January are paid up through June, 2009.

Bonnie Gordon-Lucas has a new book called GET BETTER! published May 2008 by American Cancer Society. And I quote, "Say what you want without speaking! 18 helpful communication cards for patients & those who care for them. Humorous full-color illustrations by Bonnie Gordon-Lucas, with simple phrases by sister-in-law Sandra Eagleton, Ph.D. an 18-year cancer survivor. Laminated (so it wipes clean), spiral bound, stand-alone book format (English/Spanish). Available in bookstores nationwide, as well as through cancer.org."
