Meeting Minutes
May 11, 2009

Nancy Davis Metz, president, called the meeting to order at 6:18 p.m. at First Christian Church.
A. Minutes from April 13, 2009. Seeing no additions or corrections, a motion was made by Meri Reinhold to approve the minutes. After a second by Carla Hedges, the motion was passed.

B. Treasurer’s Report - Carol Rhodes reported a current balance of $1,866.76. Next year’s membership fee (due by June 30, 2009) can be paid by cash, check or through Pay Pal using a Pay Pal account or credit card. There are currently 70 members of BWS. Motion to accept the treasurer’s report was made by Charlotte Griffin and seconded by Mary Jo Cannedy. Motion carried.

C. Committee and Board Reports
1. Paint Outs – Steve Jackson. A finalized schedule will be posted on the website. Dates and locations thus far are:
a. May 30, 9:00 – 2:00 – Sycamore Land Trust Nature Conservancy, Cedarcrest, 4898 E. Heritage Road. Bring a sack lunch. Take 3rd Street to Bruster’s Ice Cream Stand, then 446 South. Look for Heritage Woods Road on the left. Keep going until you cross two speed bumps, then SLT on the right.
b. June 27, 9:00 – 2:00, Nature’s Sanctuary, Michele (Shel) Ritter, 2530 N. Loesch Road
c. July 25, 9:00 – 2:00, I. U. Arboretum. Park in the metered end of the I. U. Library lot closest to the Arboretum. August, September and October – no definite location at this time

2. Membership Shows – Tricia Wente
a. November – Showers Plaza
b. January – Columbus Learning Center
c. Baker Place – Contact Tricia for information.

D. Old Business
1. Note Card Project – Meri Reinhold, Bonnie Gordon-Lucas, Dan Alexander, Committee.
Meri reported results of research on printing services from two different businesses. Prices were quoted for printing postcards, note cards, greeting cards envelopes and card jackets. After a lengthy discussion, a motion was made by Cathy Korinek, seconded by Tricia Wente, to proceed with the card project. It was decided to only print note cards at this time. Meri Reinhold will continue to gather needed information. Bonnie Gordon-Lucas, Dan Alexander and Carol Rhodes will handle the logistics and develop a process outline and timetable by June.

E. New Business

1. There was no new business.
F. Outreach – Shelley RitterRedbud Classes – Shelly Ritter announced that teaching opportunities are available at Redbud. Classes go from 10:30 – noon and include lunch. Teachers receive $20 per hour. Contact Shelly if interested.

G. Announcements
1. T. C. Steele paint out Saturday, May 16, 2009. Festival of Flowers. Must register by May 10 to be included in the judging.

2. Tom Lynch: Watercolor Secrets Revealed Workshop 2009. Tuesday – Thursday, Aug. 18 – 20, 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., First Presbyterian Church, 15th & L, Bedford, Indiana. Cost $180. For further information contact Mary Jo Cannedy, 812-275-8736, splinterc@sbcglobal.net. Door prize – Tom Lynch print.

3. The Artesian First Annual Juried Exhibition – Art Sanctuary, Martinsville, Indiana. Opening Reception Friday, May 15, 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

4. Jacki Frey announced two possible opportunities:
a. George Rapp, New Harmony, has an Artist Cottage available for artists who wish to come to that location to paint. Sleeps four.
b. Bill Borden follow-up session, Madison, Indiana. Contact Jacki if interested.

5. Dan Alexander – Upcoming sessions at Hobby Lobby:

a. Saturday, May 16, 1:00 – 3:00, $30. Ink wash.

b. May 23, 30, June 6, 13, 20. 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. $10 per session (do not have to attend all five dates). Basic drawing.

6. Jacki Frey Studio, Friday, May 22, 9:00 – 3:30, $35. Theme: Maine shop window with sailboat model in window and geraniums in window box. RSVP by Wednesday, May 20 at jackifrey@hotmail.com or call 812-320-6745.

7. 4th Annual Zionsville Paint Out, Zionsville, Indiana. Saturday, June 13. Coincides with the Guild’s annual Gardens of Zionsville Tour. Artists are invited to paint the gardens on the tour. For details, go to http://www.sullivanmunce.org/art.html. Free to members - $25 to non-members.

H. Adjournment – Motion to adjourn was made by Jacki Frey and seconded by Zoe Dean. Meeting closed at 7:03 p.m.
